Bruce Goold is an artist who seamlessly combines his diverse skills and interests to present the viewer with a completely singular and distinctive aesthetic that is instantly recognisable as his own.

The film takes us from the Bohemian days in the infamous YELLOW HOUSE to grand hotel renovations on Lord Howe Island, to the 40th anniversary of the Sydney Opera House, to Sydney Lady Mayor’s own collection in her town hall office.

Under The Lino incorporates Bruce at work, terrific archival film and photos of some exotic times and  people – with wonderful conversations that will help weave a path through his dynamic and colourful career in the 60, 70′ 80’s 90’ 00’s and still going today – 50 years of Australian art.

Bruce’ story is told by the people who have acquired his pieces over the span of his creativity – fabrics, sculptures, lino-prints, paintings and interior designs, works that are pride of place in homes around Australia, and most recently, the world.

Some of the contributors to the colourful discussions are: Dare Jennings, Rachel Ward & Bryan Brown, Hayley Baillie, David Elfick, Ian Kiernan, Cressida Campbell, George Gittoes, Greg Weight, Jeremy Thomas, Nancy Goold and Wendy Whiteley.

Produced and directed by Bill Leimbach, with a music score by Australian group LIME CORDIALE.

Bill Leimbach's last film was a comedy, Departure Lounge: A Bollywood Affair”, selected as AACTA’s Best ‘Social Short’ Comedy of 2015. Before that he produced the critically acclaimed box office hit, BENEATH HILL 60, a World War I epic for which he received 12 AFI nominations including Best Film, Best Director and Best Script.

After University in California, Bill trained at Film School in London, later working with the BBC, and the UK film industry for ten years, before moving his production company to Australia in the 1980s. From Sydney he has produced over 25 films – features, documentary and arts programs – for National Geographic, Discovery, PBS, BBC, ABC and SBS and Australian commercial TV networks 7, 9 and 10.
