Somebody’s Daughter Theatre is a unique company with a 24 year history working with women in prison and after they have been released and also with disadvantaged young people. The DVD provides a unique insight both in their work inside women’s prisons and with particularly marginalised teenagers on the outside. It is a compelling viewing. Take the journey with this amazing group of artists – from workshops to performance, and see why their work is so inspirational and transformational – changing and in some cases, saving the lives of many through art.

“It is the only true equal meeting ground. There is no power imbalance in creating art - there is no pretence of wanting to dissect experiences for therapy but for creation.” (Artistic Director Maud Clark)

With more than two decades of high quality theatre productions presented inside prisons, in schools, community settings & mainstream theatres, the Company has now established itself as one of the truly contemporary voices in Australian theatre. In recent years Somebody’s Daughter has been working intensively with marginalised rural youth which has seen the birth of the Company’s first ‘official offspring’ HighWater Theatre – young people aged between the ages of 12 and 16 years who are outside of the formal education system, most with histories of abuse and homelessness. 2005 (30 percent of the purchase price will be forwarded to the company)
