1995 National Jazz Saxophone Award winner Julien Wilson has been referred to as "one of the most exciting musicians in the country" (Sydney critic John Shand) and "almost everyone's favourite side-man" (Joe Chindamo).

Julien has recorded or performed with many of Australia's leading jazz musicians and popular bands including Mike Nock, Thirsty Merc, Paul Grabowsky, Barney McAll, Scott Tinkler, Archie Roach and Ruby Hunter, Daddy Cool, Chris Tanners Virus and Augie March, as well as with international musicians such as Jim Black, Andy Milne, Bob Moses, Hugh Masekala, Palle Mikkleborg, Josh Roseman and The Artie Shaw Orchestra.

Wilson's original and thoughtful compositions are inspired and informed by his extensive studies in the U.S. with George Garzone and the legendary George Russell.

"Ravishingly beautiful music. Enchanting lyricism. The epitome of understatement." - Jessica Nicholas, The Age

"Five years after bursting with explosive energy at the 1994 National Jazz Awards, Wilson is one of the most exciting players in the country. What sets him apart from other short-fuse improvisers is the ability to sustain peaks with undiminished fervour for substantial periods."
