Haunting Douglas tells the story of contemporary dance choreographer Douglas Wright. A tortured genius, Wright’s work explores difficult themes including AIDS, isolation, homosexuality, death and redemption. Wright has danced and choreographed around the world. He has collaborated with some of the most important artists in contemporary dance including New York's Paul Taylor of the Paul Taylor Dance Company and Lloyd Newson of London's DV8. Haunting Douglas features beautifully captured dance works from Wright’s long, celebrated career. The film includes interviews with Douglas Wright himself as well as Shona McCullagh (world renowned dance filmmaker), Neil Ieremia (choreographer with the acclaimed troupe Black Grace), as well as Paul Taylor, and Lloyd Newson. It is a multi-award winning expose on the highs and lows of this most demanding of art forms, contemporary dance.
