Conversation between Arthur Miller and then (1970) quite young successful writer Israel Horovitz about theater, the writer, playwriting and politics, and the responsibility of the artist to society. Pulitzer Prize-winning author Miller's plays included "The Crucible", "All My Sons", "Death of a Salesman", etc. Horovitz at age 30 had had eight plays produced in New York, including "The Indian Wants the Bronx" and "Morning, Noon and Night".

Arthur Asher Miller was an American playwright, essayist, and a major figure in the twentieth-century American theater. Among his most popular plays are All My Sons, Death of a Salesman, The Crucible and A View from the Bridge. He wrote several screenplays and was most noted for his work on The Misfits. Israel Horovitz is an American playwright, director, actor and co-founder of the Gloucester Stage Company in 1979.
