"I currently lecture in theatre and design studies, specialising in performance theory; aesthetics and theatre semiology; theatre design and direction; and actor training. In 2006 I directed and designed the Peking Opera inspired production of Manuel Puig’s play The Kiss of the Spider Woman, and in 2008 was responsible for directing and designing the first professional WA production of Howard Barker’s Gertrude the Cry. In 2010 I collaborated with Dr David Moody and Associate Professor Martin Mhando on the theatre production, Witness - a performance-as-research project which featured inter-disciplinary work of devised and improvised theatre. In 2011 Dr Ralf Rauker (from Edith Cowan University) and myself were responsible for mounting a joint Edith Cowan University and Murdoch University production of Bertolt Brecht’s Baal." - Serge Tampalini
