Amos Gitaï - a singular glance on the Middle East through six documentary films.

DVD 1
The House (Bait) (1979, 50’)
The history of a house in Jerusalem and its successive inhabitants. An exemplary and unique document censured by the Israeli television and prohibited of projection in the whole world.

An house in Jerusalem (1998, 90’)
18 years after House, Amos Gitai returns to the scene. Both the house and the district have changed, with a new generation in residence. Between cinema and architecture, this documentary shows that, through the archaeology of a place, Israel is a country which is reinvented and is rebuilt with each generation.

DVD 2
Wadi (1981-1991, 97’)
Wadi, Great Canyon(2001, 86’)
Wadi Rushmia is a valley located at the east of Haïfa, in the north of Israel. In 1981, Amos Gitaï films the life of three families: a jewish one, an Arabic one and a mixed couple.Ten years later, he finds the protagonists of the first film there. In 2001, Gitaï completes this trilogy which constitutes an attractive testimony on the misfits of Israel and underlines the daily problems of two populations which must cooperate to survive.

DVD 3
Countryside diary (1982, 83’)
This film recalls various voyages through the territories occupied by Israel in the West Bank and in the Gaza Strip during months which preceded the invasion of Lebanon by the Hebrew state.

Arena of the murder (1996, 80’)
November 4, 1995, Itzhak Rabin is assassinated in Tel-Aviv. Carried out three week after this tragic event, the Arena of the murder carries all the marks of the stupor which was that of the Israelites.
